Hello Wed

My mom gets a lot of things from work. These things include beautiful bouquets of flowers. Among all the things she likes to collect, I think the flowers are my most favorite.

We went out to dine at HK cafe in Chinatown on Monday.

Right: rice noodles with beef tendons

Left: tripe (so good and crunchy)

Hello food packed weekend

Yellow submarine- pepper steak sandwhich - pretty good

A really beautiful scenery- who said cloudy foggy weather is bad? My bf loved the free facial he got from the fog.

Almost secluded beach

ramen with pork broth- a very crowded restaurant

Best Burger - turkey burger with onion rings

The turkey burger is great and juicy. Not at all dry or flavorless. As for the onion ring, I will never get tired of photographing it.

Hello snacks

My choice of snacking in the office.

Far right: mix of wasabi almonds with cashews, peanuts and this other large nut.

Bottom container to the left: TJ graham cracker. The best graham cracker I ever had. It is crunchy and lightly sweeten with molasses. I never knew graham cracker can be this good.

Top left: mixed trail mix.

All these provides great proteins and fiber for when you are hungry. By having a couple in the drawer, you can change it up from time to time to avoid being bored with just one snack.

What is in your desk snack drawer?

Hello dreamy things

What I would like to wear to work.... a splash of hot color paired with neutrals to keep it sexy yet work appropriate.

After work, I would like to relax in an outfit like this. Very resort like and summery.

My dream home entry way. :)

Happy Friday!

Hello flourless oatmeal cookies #2

Today I tried to make another batch of oatmeal cookie without flour. I found a recipe online and as I was putting the ingredients together, I realize I didn't have some of the ingredients they asked for. Like eggs. How can we not have eggs?!

So I adapted. Instead of eggs, I put in my sunflower seed butter with a little almond milk. That was the only binding ingredient I can think of.

The result: mediocre. Soft and too buttery. I yet again need to adapt my oatmeal recipe some more.

Share with me: what else is a good binding ingredient other than eggs or peanut butter?

Hello snacks

Snacks. I love to have them at 10ish am and another at 3ish pm. Ofcourse, all in healthy quantity.

My mom got these great brown rice snack crackers that I adore. Heat them in the toaster on low and spread them with sunflower seed butter and a little honey apple sauce. I recently got the honey apple sauce from TJ and the verdict is, greeeeaaaaaatttttt! As Tony the Tiger would say.

It is lightly sweeten and has a lot of apple flavor. I was hoping for more honey flavor. Perhaps I need to compensate more honey on this.

Snacks are important and helps keep me going during the day. However, do it in moderation and you will be good to go. In snack I trust.

What do you like to snack on?

Hello desires of my heart

Today I decided to switch it up and eat at the cafeteria at my work for the first time! To say the least, the food is really mediocre. Today's options are: chicken or beef tamale, beef with rice, turkey with rice, smoked salmon salad, turkey burger, cheese quesadila, veggie wrap, split pea soup, lentil soup, & assorted brownies.

Can you guess what I decided to get?
Above is the view from our cafeteria. It overlooks a man made pond with lots of geese swimming and dipping their head in the water.

Turkey with tomato mushroom sauce/ rice with celery/ corn- 3 out of 5 star. $9.50

The turkey was surprisingly juicy and not dry as it may look. However, the sauce tasted different and the rice did not have a nice texture to it. I wouldn't be frequenting this cafeteria too often. Perhaps breakfast would be different.

While I was enjoying my lunch, I couldn't help but overhear 2 guys fellowshipping 2 tables away. They were quite loud and I cannot but catch some really really private topics. Amongst their discussion, one man came to realize this month that in order to overcome obstacles and hardship, 'we need to change the desire of our hearts'. One of the man was dealing with a lot of troubles within his family and thought that he was destine to live an unhappy and hard life. However, when he started to change his view and his desire of his heart, everything seem to look a lot better and he was able to reap a lot of rewards.

I thought that was very interesting and hope that I can practice that as well.

Hello Monterey & Carmel!

I had a blast at Monterey/ Carmel. Below are highlights from the 2 day/ 1 night we were there. Great natural scene & very fancy food.

One reason why getting lost is so fun: you get to find treasures such as this! A pair of deers grazing along side of the road. At first, I thought the deers were statues because it was so still. After a min, they started moving and walked off.

Hot chocolate chip cookies. I liked it a lot because it had rolled oats in it that made it so hearty. A good thing to have when you are traveling around; I get hungry easily.

My bf ate the ice cream and ditched the cone. Who does that?!

Scenes from along side hwy 17. California is truly a gem because it offers so many natural scenery like this. I love how rich the coast line are with seaweed, crabs, hermit crabs, seals etc etc.

Napoli restaurant in Carmel. Alaskan salmon over noodles with asparagus, peas & garlic in creamy white wine sauce. The salmon was fantastic. I ate it flake by flake.

I cannot resist good coffee in cute cups.

Ending the day while watching the sunset at the beach. Perfecto.

Breakfast at a local diner. It was busy and I can tell that a lot of locals frequent that place. We had the poached eggs over turkey with avocado on an english muffin. I love breakfast food.

At Earthbound farm in Carmel. They grow/ sell organic food. It was situated in the heart of the mountain. Mountains surround this farm offering a breathtaking view. After visiting an organic farm, I appreciate organic food much more now.

I love the large wooden table and how it complements the surrounding.

Quite possibly the best salad I have ever had. Very very fresh.

I love California and am so excited to see more of this great state.
